Sidgreaves - MD} 2/E5.9.30 Referring to the last paragraph of HsE/MJ.3.9.30 I am surprised to note that at WW the other day DA {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} /EV {Ivan Evernden - coachwork} stated that he thought only about 5% or 10% of our cars were carrying the spare wheel at the rear and that the accepted standard appeared to be two wheels at the side. I have made enquiries and I find that, if we take the last 322 Phantom II chassis, we find that 140 or 43.5% had provision at the rear for carrying one or two spare wheels, and as regards the 20/25 the position is that an overwhelming proportion have the spare wheel at the back. I should be glad to know whether EV. {Ivan Evernden - coachwork} made this statement in front of R. {Sir Henry Royce} If so, I should like to correct it because it must have given him quite a wrong impression of the result of our efforts to persuade people to carry wheels at the back.
