'dampers. Oil leaks have been cured and
'reported upon. We have run most of the milage
'without the restrictions and brought the
'poundage up to 100. They have operated
'satisfactorily under these conditions. The
'tests carried out with various loads have been
'reported. The lubrication of the contacts and
'ball ends has been satisfactory after altering
'the Bijurs from SO to SI.

Remarks:
The Experimental Dept. confirm that they agree
to the 100 lbs springs, therefore will Mr Booth
and Mr D'Aeth get out springs, and instruct
them for 100 lbs.

(16) REAR SPARE WHEEL CARRIER (SINGLE) LOP D.72147
N.S. 2811.

'The rear spare wheel carrier has given
'considerable trouble through the triangular
'stay siezing in the bearings on the rear cross
'member. This has made it difficult to get the
'spare wheel off. Two spare wheels are
'preferable for continental touring. We have
'had occasions when two tyres have been
'punctured during a run.

Remarks:
We should specify .002 positive + 2 for the
cross member and the bearing surface to be
ground and well treated with Lanoline.

(17) STARTER MOTOR TO LSC. 2647.

'The starter motor as reported very quickly
'failed. When dismantled the pinion bearing
'was found to be very much scored and torn up.
'The pinion teeth and flywheel teeth were
'damaged. A new pinion and bearing were fitted.
'The starter and main switch were considerably
'damaged during a run through a short circuit
'occuring while going at high speed. The main
'battery wires had to be disconnected to
'prevent fire taking place. We have not been
'able to trace the cause of the short circuit.

Remarks:
We do not know what we can do here, the
failure was a real short, perhaps EFC. {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} can give
Mr Davis some information.
