| X1487 Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 2/KT. March 17th 1933. The S.U. Company, East Works, Bordesley Green Road, Adderley Park, B'ham. For the attention of Mr.Skinner. Dear Sirs, We have been running your two small 1 3/8" diameter throttle carburetters on a 2300 c.c engine, and the attached curve shows the results we get. We think that if you will let us have a needle which will reproduce curve (1), it would give us what we want. You will observe that the carburetters are really too large for this engine; the air valve lifts less than .7 at full throttle maximum speed. We should like to know what is the next smaller size carburetter that you make as this will probably improve the distribution and slow running without appreciably reducing our top H.P. At the same time if you could send us a pair of required needles for the 1 3/8" throttle diameter carburetters we have at present, it will enable us to carry on with the job. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
