| SECRET. To Mr. [REDACTED] Copy to Mr. Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} [REDACTED] [REDACTED] [REDACTED] 604 E {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} /EV. {Ivan Evernden - coachwork} 6/MM.31.3.37. ------------------------------------------------ Finish of Experimental Cars - 26.G.6 and 27.G.6. ------------------------------------------------ Many thanks for your No.10/MK.19.3.37, and for the samples of colour, leather and cloth which Messrs.Park Ward & Co. have sent to us. After consultation with the Experimental Dept. we have decided to paint the Four-door Saloon, 27.G.6 blue and black, and the Limousine 26.G.6 maroon and black. It was considered that the blue and black is too like the all-black of the similar car 24.G.6 to enable us to differentiate between the cars. The blue for the Four-door saloon we propose would be lighter than that of the sample and we are going to Messrs.Park Ward & Co's almost immediately to choose a modified shade. With respect to the limousine 26.G.6, it is desired by the Expl. Dept. that this car should be completely sound treated in order that we may make a direct comparison between it and the exact replica 24.G.6 which has not been so treated. To do this we shall draw up a specification for Messrs.Park Ward & Co. to work to, but at the outset it is necessary to choose a specially openly woven and thin head-cloth to prevent sound reflection, and the same remark applies to the seat trimmings. This is an American practice in connection with sound damping. He also propose to use cloth in both the front and rear seats for this purpose, and we suggest that we are in order in doing so in that it is an owner-driven car. We will let you know the result of our choice. With regard to the illumination of the driver's compartment we note your remarks, and no doubt BY {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} /RD. will have given this matter attention. EV. {Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
