AUTOMATIC HYDRAULIC SHOCK ABSORBER CONTROL.

We have now got R.R.Sch.269 with the hand control fitted to 3.Per.2 and J.2, both of which cars will shortly be running in France.

A weakness appears to be in the two bolt flange, and we think we should adopt a four bolt flange for this scheme.

We have also been using this scheme for hydraulic control. We find that one layer of bladder and one layer of A.C. fabric gives excellent results and additionally will stand 250 lbs/sq.in., before it breaks.

We therefore want to continue experiments with it as it may be just as good and considerably cheaper than the thermostat bellows.

We should like to use RR.Sch.269 exactly as it stands but with a 4 bolt flange and enclosed guide with a union for connecting the oil supply, and provision for bleeding the line.
