We anticipate that we shall receive complaints from customers with reference to the knock which we sometimes get on our engines from the gudgeon pin in the piston. We have had some complaints already - so far, the cars in question have been - Drivers Instruction Car. Mr. Chichester's Inspection Car. Mr. Johnson's Car. Lord Leeds Car. On each of these cars we have overcome the complaint by fixing a spring under the gudgeon pin locking screw as shown below:- [Diagram showing a cross-section of a piston with a gudgeon pin and the proposed spring fix.] The feature about this knock is the fact that it is only there when the engine is running at very slow speeds light load. The knock takes place whether the cylinders are firing or not. Contd. [Stamped: RECEIVED OCT 1920 HS {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ] | ||
