Re: 2I-EX

We have to-day been carrying out some shock absorber tests. There is no doubt that the car rides very much better with the rear shock dampers loads increased to 100 lbs. up and down. We have tried running with and without restrictions at the rear. There is little difference between the two conditions when the fixed loads of the shock absorbers are increased to 100 lbs. in each case. When going over a deep in the road or a small bridge, the dynamic restrictions definitely prevent the passengers from being thrown off the rear seats. The car has been however quite controllable and comfortable without those restrictions at the rear as long as we retain 100 lbs both ways loads.

We think that the lack of selectivity with the old Phantom axle may be due to the fact that the front of the car is lifted 1 1/4" under these conditions and in consequence the raising of the centre of gravity may tend to produce instability.
