| 646 Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /Les15/R. 25th June, 1937. Messrs. Jonas Woodhead & Sons Ltd., Kirkstall Road, L E E D S. 4. Dear Sirs, With reference to your letter dated 24th June. We are anxious to have an explanation of the eye on the top which we returned being .068" out of round when you gave us a figure of +-.005" for unmachined eyes. We are also astonished that these eyes were welded without our agreement. The oil holes in the plates where the lubricators are attached have not been drilled. We telephoned to you immediately we discovered these troubles as we were wanting to fit the springs to a car going for French testing. We should have thought that it would have been in your interest to let us have satisfactory top plates as soon as possible. At present much valuable time is wasted in waiting for unnecessary written confirmations. Official covering orders can easily be supplied after the parts have been despatched. We are still waiting for four suitable top plates for springs FW.754. Yours faithfully, For ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
