| X7941. To G.W.Hancock, Hotel de France, Chateauroux(French test region), Indre, FRANCE. From Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 1/MJ.6.5.32. We thank you for your letter of May 4th. Push Rods Bent. - We think your surmise is probably correct. half-a-dozen new push rods have been sent out to you. Preignition. - We note what you say about this. You do not mention whether the plugs used were the C. or C.3 Type. We presume that you were using the C.3 plug as we cannot run for more than five minutes on the test bed with the C. without getting violent preignition. We are sending you out a set of K.L.G. plugs for you to try, and if you will return the Lodge plugs to us we will take the matter up with the makers. Synchro-Mesh Gearbox - We are going to finalise this job here, and will let you know what decision is reached. Shimmy-Shackle - Re. test in Paris. Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} considers that this test is of primary importance, and wants you to run up to Paris on 19-EX. to try the car before and after the shimmy shackle is fitted. In Paris you could get a set of K.L.G. plugs. to try. We do not think that if the run to Paris is used as a test run it should effect your testing very much. We have today wired you, as follows :- "MAKE RUN TO PARIS TO TRY SHIMMY SHACKLE CAR & OBTAIN SET OF K.L.G. PLUGS THICK ELECTRODE".
