| -2- Exhaust System. The attachment of the exhaust system comes very close to the body at the tail, and at the centre foot-wells, see LeC.5752 herewith. Provision must be made to enable the suspension rubbers to be replaced. Rear Wheel & Wings. Due to the use of 6.500" tyres instead of 7.000" on the 17" rims (outside dia. 30.650 instead of 31.900) and the raising of the rear of this car by .800" due to the use of the Phantom III rear axle, see LeC.5324 (already sent to you) the clearance for the wheel and wing is too great and becomes ugly. The track has been increased by .500 also. On P.CD.223 herewith, we show the revised wheel arch clearances we wish to be used. This lowers the top of the wing and widens the rear seat. It will be seen that although the track is widened we do not see any need to increase the overall width of the rear, wings. Front Wings. Although the track has been increased by .500" there is no need to increase the overall width of the wings. Bonnet Rear End. It should not be overlooked that the bonnet overhang should be that given in E {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} /Ev. {Ivan Evernden - coachwork} 3/MN. of March.17th.1937 i.e. 8.500" overhang from back of dash and 11 degree of slope. Chassis Floorboards. -These should be to the latest design N.Sch.5074-5 sent to you with E {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} /EV {Ivan Evernden - coachwork} 3/MN. of March 20th.1937. Original Body, Enclosed Limousine for 29-G-VI. (LeC.5289). It will not be possible for you to modify the rear wheel arches and wings of this body in accordance with our requirements. We suggest that the appearance can be improved by deepening the outside valance of the rear wing by about 1.250 inches at the centre of the rear wheel, see PD.61 herewith. Continued. | ||
