Gear Box will probably be produced, we should be glad if the following features could be incorporated in the design to simplify production. The revised common Gearbox already incorporates these features :- 1. Machine faces for covers etc; in line with each other as far as possible so that machining may be carried out at one setting. 2. Speedo Drive boss dropped below level of top face so that machining of face may be carried out without interference by projecting boss. 3. N.S.5177 Modified 3rd Speed Recking Shaft to simplify forging. This requires detailing. 4. Extended union screwed in top face of clutch casing to provide clutch thrust lubrication. This will enable us to delete the existing brazed oil pipe and flange etc. 5. Adjusting Washers deleted as far as possible. 6. Flat ended ball cages, also washers and bolts to retain outer ball race on reverse selector shaft. This enables the outer race to be made as a parallel sleeve without a flange. RHC. {R. H.
