TRIALS CAR - 123-GY. RIPPONS.

Further to my note on the above subject (BY3/ G.3.6.31.) as we anticipated Mx. {John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} has been unable to find any fault with the shock damper as it was returned from Rippon Bros.

As pointed out in my previous memo, the shock damper in question had been fitted with all the known improvements, and should therefore be a 100% job. It had only been quite recently fitted when Rippons car was at our Works, and it had been passed as satisfactory, both by our people at the Works and Rippon Bros. on receipt of the car.

In view, therefore, of the facts, this certainly appears to me to be a case where some expert in shock dampers should take the shock damper up to Rippon Bros. and re-fit it, and endeavour to find out exactly what is the nature of the complaint was, as this instance may represent a valuable one from the point of view of the kind of trouble which is being experienced, which may, if thoroughly investigated, throw further light upon the shock damper problem. On the other hand, it may have been returned for some cause which had nothing at all to do with the shock damper and might have been elsewhere.

I think you will agree that the above is a case for intensive investigation.
