| X4050 DUNLOP RUBBER CO.,LTD. TELEGRAPHIC ADDRESS "DUNLOPS, PHONE, BIRMINGHAM" TELEPHONE: BIRMINGHAM CENTRAL, 4108 (P.B.E.) EXTENSION No. 395. YOUR REF: OUR REF: HEP/LW.125.D. FORT DUNLOP ERDINGTON BIRMINGHAM Messrs. Rolls Royce Limited, DERBY. For the attention of Mr. H. {Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Robotham. 12th January, 1934. Dear Sirs, It will be remembered that when the writer visited in you September last in connection with the new F.4. tyre, you intimated a desire to carry out further extensive tests, preferably in France, and to this end 7.00-19 tyres were required for a 40/50 Phantom chassis. It was explained that the F.4. tyre was not available in this size at the time but arrangements for its production were immediately put in hand and the regrettable delay which has since occurred in getting tyres through must be attributed solely to some difficulty which was experienced with the original mould castings supplied to us. On speaking to Mr. Hives in your absence some few days ago, however, we learnt that the chassis in question is still at Derby and that you are still prepared to accept the tyres which are now ready. A set of six is, therefore, being forwarded to Derby today under cover of our advices Nos. 1806-7 which will be marked for your attention. We may say that the F.4. plant position generally has been advanced considerably since the writer last saw you, and as we place a high value on your opinion in this matter, we should be very grateful if the tyres we are sending you could be fitted as soon as conveniently possible, when we shall look forward with interest to any remarks which you have to pass concerning their performance. Yours faithfully, FOR THE DUNLOP RUBBER CO. LIMITED. H.B. Price Manager, Car Manfrs. Division. Handwritten notes: GWH {George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} See me HS {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
