Messrs. Rolls-Royce Limited, DERBY. Dear Sirs, For the attention of Mr. C.T. Salt. Confirming our telephone conversation this morning concerning the miniature Automatic Jet Control, which we are today despatching under separate cover marked for your attention, this unit was placed on test and at 18" of vacuum gave a lift of 5m/m. this representing half its total stroke. When the water in contact with the outer casing reaches a temperature of 50°C, the centre spindle commences to move and the opening is progressive until a temperature of 74°C. is reached when the unit is then fully open, or in other words, the centre spindle is fully extended to its total stroke of 10m/m. As mentioned to you over the 'phone we are also sending you one clamping ring with four holes drilled to enable you to clamp the unit to your casting. It is essential that the casting should have a small register in order that our rubber sealing ring will make a water-tight seal, the principle being exactly the same as that of our larger unit with which you are already familiar. Yours faithfully, For S. SMITH & SONS (MOTOR ACCESSORIES) LIMITED. A.W. Perkins. To avoid delay all envelopes should be addressed to the firm. | ||
