You will remember that we had a lot of trouble with automatic lubrication to the clutch spigot, which caused the clutches to slip, and it was deleted both on the Phantom and the 25 HP. We had a bad example with Lappin's car of clutch slipping, until we cut off the automatic lubrication. In making enquiries from the Drawing Office the present 25 HP. cars in customer's hands are chassis 1 to 26 in TB. series that have the automatic lubrication, and it is probable that some of these are giving trouble with the clutch slipping, and it would be advisable when any of these cars are in, to cut off the automatic lubrication whilst the gearbox is down. This can be easily carried out. The only parts to be dismantled are the clutch operating shaft and the end cover G.54051. The following are the instructions that were issued to the works, and can be used in this case. G.55907 Plug Front Cover, off per set. The above piece is to be screwed into the front cover G.54051 in the 2.BA tapped hole, in which G.50003 is at present fitted. The new plug is required to seal the oil passage the the clutch spigot. This has been found necessary owing to the excessive lubrication of the spigot. The hand lubricating hole in the clutch shaft is not interfered with, and owners should be instructed to add a few drops as instructed in the instruction book.
