46. UNDERSHIELDS. By modifying the undershields in the same way as the sample set now fitted to a chassis in Experimental Dept. savings can be made as follows:
Material - 10. 5.
Nett labour 1. 8. 10.
Total nett saving 1. 19. 3.

E. {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} and DA. {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} to see samples (after inspection decided to make up final set for 10,000 mile test.)

47. REAR BRAKES. The double bearings for the brake toggle shafts G53628. are made of bronze. It is suggested that these be tried out in aluminium. By this means the material cost could be reduced by:
Material - 1. 2.

E. {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} and DA. {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} to see sample parts (after inspection decided that they should be tried out on experimental cars.)

48. FRONT BRAKES. The remarks in item 47 apply to piece number G53552. and the saving:
Material - - 8
See item 47.

49. RADIATOR CROSS MEMBERS. The gussets F53297. for the above cross member are specified in nickel steel. If mild steel, cost would be less by:
Material - - 7

E. {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} and DA. {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} to see specimen (after inspection decided to agree to mild steel.)
