Dear Sirs,

We beg to acknowledge receipt of your letter(ref WHC/EH/K) of the 3rd inst., and we are pleased to hear of the good progress you have made with your self adjusting fan.

With regard to the bonnet ventilation device which we have; we have carried out a series of tests, the results however were very inconsistent and did not give a true indication of what was happening under the bonnet. The reason for the inconsistent results was, we believe, very high and gusty winds which were unfortunately prevalent when the tests were carried out. The results of these tests did not indicate that the Colt Ventilator would give us any increased ventilation above that obtained with our present flip flap bonnet shutters. At the earliest opportunity we will repeat the tests under more favourable weather conditions and will advise you immediately of the results obtained.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS ROYCE LIMITED.
