re Front Wing Clearances - Myth.

Attached to Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /HH's. copy of this memo. is PL.396 which shews the Myth front wheels on full lock and full bump.

Although the inner wheel on lock and bump demands the greater clearance, we have never needed to consider other than the outside wheel because of the effect of roll and the difficulty in practice of getting the inner wheel on full bump.

Because it is almost impossible to get full bump on the outer wheel, except under almost impossible conditions, we usually allow the mud lip of the front wing to fould the outer edge of the tyre tread by .500 ins. under these conditions.

We shew two sizes of wheel and tyre.

The 5.000 ins. section is for the smaller models with the Myth radiator and the 5.500" section for the larger models having the Rolls-Royce radiator.

The tyres shewn are Dunlop Extra Low Pressure, and may be found on their chart.

As soon as we receive from the Avon Tyre Co. particulars of their proposed Pilote Type tyres we will let Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /EAG. have corresponding drawings for them but at the moment we suggest that front wings be designed for the tyres shewn. We have been able to make our front suspension to take the Pilote Wheel and Tyre without any increase in front track.
