TESTS CARRIED OUT ON VARIOUS CAR HEATERS, DEFROSTERS ETC. WITH A VIEW TO OBTAINING INFORMATION USEFUL FOR DE-ICING LAY OUTS.

We have carried out tests on -

(1) Clayton car heater.
(2) Bosch combined car heater and de-icer.
(3) Harrison 1937 type car heater.
(4) Buick 1938 car heater.
(5) Buick 1938 separate de-icer blower.
(6) lce and car heater fan and Lucas motor as proposed for projected car heater.

to determine -

(a) Running speed of motor and fan assembly.
(b) Were air pressure head available (i.e. with no delivery) for de-icing ducts etc.

The results of the tests are as follows (rotational speed was measured optically).

(1) Clayton Heater -

Running speed of motor/fan unit. - 1170 RPM.
Air Head available taking radial nozzle and blanking off other flow - 0.3" H2O.
