| AFM {Anthony F. Martindale} to this O {Mr Oldham} /C File 606. Copy. C. Ex. Des. Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Copy. SECRET. E {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} /HDY. {William Hardy} 3/HP.10.5.37. Wraith III Brakes. We send herewith N.Sch.6138 showing an idler lever in the front brake linkage to provide clearance for the larger engine oil pump. The idler lever is also utilised to provide a stop for the front brakes so that the deletion of the air dashpot does not leave the front brakes without a stop. We are not sure that the air dashpot is officially deleted yet but we understand that it is likely to be. The use of an idler approximately half way between the servo and the front equaliser has made it practicable, we consider, to have rods instead of a rope. The lever on the front equaliser is modified to take a smaller fork as used with a rod. E {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} /HDY. {William Hardy} N.Sch.6138 herewith. | ||
