Wraith III Gearbox.

We send herewith N.Sch.5100 showing a modification to the servo drive shaft to enable the worm wheel and adjacent pieces to be assembled in place after the 3rd motion shaft and servo worm are assembled.

It has been found impossible to do this with the scheme as shown by N.Sch.4922.

We have increased the clearance between the splines on the worm wheel and the splines on the shaft of the speedometer spiral gear, so that the servo worm wheel can be lifted sufficiently to clear the worm as it is passed into place.

In addition to the increase of spline clearance for assembling purposes we show a tolerance of .005 on the speedometer shaft splines which allows grinding to be deleted.

We have also modified the washer between the spring ring and the ball bearing, so that the spring ring takes no part in the location of the servo worm wheel.

E {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} /HDY. {William Hardy}

N.Sch.5100 herewith.
