HIGH OIL TEMPERATURES.

we have been carrying out further tests to confirm the relative values of the ventilation of bonnet excess oil to tappets. We should, with the results of the tests, place them in the following order:-

(1) Piston Friction - increased by higher revving engine.

(2) Auto Tappets with increased supply of oil. We enclose chart.

(3) Too high an efficiency of the radiator. We enclose charts.

There is a separate issue with the radiator question, apart from the cooling effect of the oil, it has an important part in keeping the inside of the bonnet temp. down and scuttle temp. it also has a lot to do with the heat to the petrol and carburation generally.
