| Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} /RD. 87600. BY.1/G.9.10.31 SIDE SPARE WHEEL CARRIER. It is clearly understood that with the diamond mounting, it is necessary to carry the spare wheels on the side in order to prevent 'jellying' of the frame. You will see from my record of the telephone conversation I had with EV. {Ivan Evernden - coachwork} (BY {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} /8/G.5.10.31.) as a result of my having written as per BY.8/G.25.9.31. that he is complacently sitting still relying upon the schemes which have been sent to us, whilst at this end we very much doubt that any of the schemes are of any use. We have got to keep the Works going, and a decision will have to be made quickly to enable us to build chassis, as the diamond mounting is commencing at the 51st chassis on the R.H. chassis and the 76th chassis on the L.H.
