We are sending you another steering column and box complete under temporary importation certificate, so that you can return the one you have fitted for examination and also tell us whether the new steering cures your complaints of joggles.

One other point is, we should like you to report on the behaviour of the K.S. petrol gauge in detail, and if it is wrong, the endeavours you make to correct it and the results thereof. Whilst we admit that this gauge has given us a lot of trouble, we must remember that it ran 10,000 miles satisfactorily on two or three previous occasions.

One thing we think may occur under conditions of high speed running, is that you may carefully dry the air line but that it may get wet again by the splashing of the petrol on the normal running. Hobson's say this cannot occur, but we are suspicious. We know that the reading will vary if you use different fuels because the gauge calibration is dependent on the specific gravity or density of the fuel used. We should like to have details of the over-night loss in gauge reading during hot weather.
