| To Hd {Mr Hayward / Mr Huddy} and Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} From G.W.H. Hotel de France Chateauroux(French test region) Indre 56 We have now been able to test the rear dampers with valves fitted without any holes in them. We cannot as far as the body noises allow us hear any knocks in the dampers. The N/S rear damper is however knocking in the link motion play having developed in the links. We have also had trouble with the ball end working loose in the bracket on the rear axle N/S. We could not tighten up the nut and it was necessary to file the swaged portion to get it off. It was then found that the thread had not been screwed far enough down to allow the nut to grip the bracket. We recessed the nut to allow it to do so. The bracket on the axle holding the ball end does not appear to be strong enough to withstand the load. We draw your attention to it so that if possible it can be strengthened; one of our's has bent outwards. G.W.H. G77201/2 | ||
