Our standard 25.HP. rear spring costs £4. 1. 0. Cheap type Firth Wraith spring " £2.18. 0. Cheap type Woodhead Wraith spring " £1.19. 3. We are told by Olley that the Toledo Woodhead Co. of Sheffield are now installing a really up-to-date spring manufacturing plant which will be run with all the latest American information. Toledo's are going to get in touch with us in a few months when their plant is working. As there are further weaknesses with Woodhead springs such as oil leaks from the eyes and bad bedding of the plates, we recommend that when we leave Firths we go straight to Toledos. In the meantime, provided the cheap type Firth's springs are satisfactory, we shall save £2. 6. 0. per chassis. The Woodhead spring has been useful to us, as it was the cause of the quotation for the cheap type Firth Spring to be reduced by 18/- per chassis. Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /Les. | ||
