| Rg. {Mr Rowledge} Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} H1. X1360 BY1/G.21.11.28. SANDBLASTING OF PIPES.. Some months ago I issued an instruction to the Works that they must not sandblast pipes, particularly copper, either :- a {Mr Adams} /- As a means of cleaning after brazing to get rid of the molten flux. or b/- As a means of cleaning pipes for cadmium plating. I was not aware that the Works were sand-blasting until I was in the Works one day and noticed it. I immediately issued an instruction as above. It is agreed that the instructions issued by the Air Ministry for plating permit sandblasting, but in issuing these instructions I again definitely cut out sand-blasting as a method of cleaning. Any pipes which were sandblasted must have been done some considerable time ago. BY. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} | ||
