| 1044 6 28 MESSRS. C. L. Pa. {Mr Paterson} By. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Fm. E {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} /HDY. {William Hardy} 1/HP.15.2.37. Wraith II - Gearbox. We send herewith a print of N.Sch.5042 which shows a detachable reverse gear fork to facilitate assembling the box. We should like this modification tried on the 2nd box if possible, and to assist in doing this we are sending a print of the above scheme on which we have shown in pencil how the existing reverse fork forging may be used. An alternative method is to provide a bulge in the side of the casing to allow the reverse shaft to be moved out clear of the 3rd speed synchromesh cone. This will be the cheaper way, but the loose fork is preferred by the fitters. The original of N.Sch.5042 is attached to Hy {Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} 's copy.
