| (9) 40. FRAME. If the frame trusses are retained savings as follows could be made if the pressed steel stiffeners F53239 and F3987 (2 off each) were made in mild steel instead of nickel steel: Material 10d. See item 39. 41. FRAME. If the frame stiffeners F53473/4 for front spring anchor brackets (1 off each) were made in mild steel instead of nickel steel we could save: Material 1. 0. R. {Sir Henry Royce} and D.A. agree. 42. STEERING. If the oil grooves which are cut in the threads of the steering worm were deleted there would be a reduction in cost of: Nett labour 2. 1. R. {Sir Henry Royce} and D.A. agree. (It is considered that with the better finish now possible these oil grooves are not necessary. The same remarks apply to P.2. chassis). 43. STEERING. If it should be agreed to delete the trunnion cage carrying the steering nut the reduction in cost would be: Material 2. 6. Nett labour 7. 4. Total net reduction. 9. 10. R. {Sir Henry Royce} has decided that this shall remain. 44. BRAKES. For some months past work has been going on experimentally with a view to improving the bedding of brakes and reducing the cost of the operations. An apparatus has been evolved by EEC. which when made and put into regular use should reduce the cost of bedding brakes by the following amounts: Front brakes, nett labour 3. 2. Rear brakes, nett labour 5. 0. 8. 2. No decision necessary. 45. STEERING. REC. has improved the processes in the production of satisfactory steering nuts which should result in a reduction of: Nett labour 4. 2. No decision necessary. | ||
