| X5420 To BY. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} FROM DA. {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} C. to BJ. HS. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} DA {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} 6/M15.5.26. 20HP - FRICTION IN FRONT PIVOTS X.5420. Referring to the question of providing additional friction in the front pivots we have discussed this matter with R. {Sir Henry Royce} , and he thinks that the arrangement shewn on N.Scheme 2190. is to be preferred to the original arrangements, the idea being that both pivots should be treated in this way, so making them inter-changeable instead of only one as at present. The amount of friction obtained on account of the increased working diameter is rather more with N.Sch: 2190. than the experimental scheme. Though R. {Sir Henry Royce} criticises the experimental scheme from the point of view of facility of manufacture and weight, there is no objection to your using it until such time as N.Scheme 2190. can be standardised.
