Referring to your RHC {R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} /JMW.2/EMG.10.6.37, we give below summary of the present position of proposed alterations to Bonnet rest angles - all chassis.

(1) Ph.III. (a) Mild steel angles with increased width of Ferodo strip is now instructed for Production (see drgs. F.89399/400/1/2/3/4.)

(b) Design scheme (LeC.5477) for extruded aluminium bonnet rest angles and wider Kansas Snubber rest strip, has been issued and is fitted to 32-EX. car which is about to commence 15,000 miles test in France.

(2) 25/30.HP. Mild steel angles with increased width of Ferodo strip now instructed for Production (see drgs. F.61397/8/9/ F.61400/1/2/3/4/5.

(3) Wraith III. Design scheme (LeC.5464) for extruded aluminium bonnet rest angles and wider Kansas Snubber rest strip has been issued and will be fitted on the next Wraith built.

(4) Bentley - the only existing scheme with bonnet rest angles, instead of rubber moulding as standard, is that for the 2" wider dashboard - LeC.4827 - using nickel silver rest angles and narrow Ferodo strip. The last Bentley in France - 3.B.IV - was fitted with this scheme on dashboard and mild steel angles with wide Kansas Snubber rest strip on the radiator ( the latter was rigged up by Exp. Dept.)

If 32-EX. aluminium bonnet rest angles complete 15,000 miles satisfactorily, we shall standardise extruded aluminium angles and wider Kansas Snubber rest strip for all cars.

In the meantime we think that we should change immediately to mild steel angles with increased width Ferodo on Bentley dashboards, thus coming in line with the other two cars, and saving approximately 4/- to 6/- per car. Since we have changed from narrow Ferodo with nickel silver rest angles to wide Ferodo with mild steel rest angles on 25/30 and Ph.III, there seems to be no reason why we should not make the same change on Bentley, while the nickel silver rest angles have successfully completed 15,000 miles on Bentley.

A scheme and details will be necessitated for the standard dashboard.
