CAST IRON BRAKE DRUMS FOR CHASSIS. --------------------------------- With reference to the pencil note which you made on our memo BY {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} /15/J.14.3.35, which is returned to you herewith, we have to advise you RHC. {R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} has in the Experimental Stores finished brake drums both for the 40/50 HP. 20/25 HP. and Bentley chassis, made both by the Wycliffe Foundry Co, Limited, and also similar drums made in our own foundry. We understand that all these drums are finished machined and ready for fitting. There is one point however and that is that all these drums will be to the present standard design and we understand that probably these will not be suitable owing to our interest in the 14" drum. If therefore, the drums we have finished are not suitable for test purposes, we suggest that RHC. {R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} instructs our own foundry to produce further sets of castings to a design which can be tried out speedily. The point at issue is of course that we feel we must have an alternative source of supply to Messrs. Lake & Elliotts Limited, or otherwise we are in danger with being faced with considerable dislocation to our output. BY {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} /EM. S.M. | ||
