| X3807 COPY OF LETTER RECEIVED FROM: THE HOFFMANN MANUFACTURING CO.LTD., CHELMSFORD. 19th.March 1934. Messrs.Rolls-Royce Ltd., Derby. Dear Sirs, re 3½ Litre Bentley - Rear Axle Pinion Bearing. --------------------------------------- Reverting to the subject of your letter dated 12th. inst. we have now had on test a pair of the No.1421 bearings and in both cases have experienced a somewhat unusual temperature rise. On examining the parts we can only attribute this to a tendency for the balls to engage with three tracks simultaneously. We are taking steps to overcome this, but in the meantime shall be glad to know whether you have experienced the same difficulty with the remainder of the bearings, and if these have not already been used we should like you to return them to us for modification if this should be found necessary. Yours faithfully, FOR THE HOFFMANN MANUFACTURING CO. (Sgd) M.J.S.Cooper Research Engineer. | ||
