HYDROGEN BRAZED BUSHES - SHOCK DAMPER LEVER.

The attached photo shows a damper with pressed steel levers EXS.1532 to which the steel bush is hydrogen brazed to take the torque.

The lever failed by bending at 360 lbs. at its end (10" centres) but the brazing did not fail although we subsequently applied a load of 1320 lbs., (1100 lbs.ft.)

The hydrogen brazing appears to be adequately strong for components of importance, such as this. The price is very reasonable, it is something like 1d. per lever, Roy {Mr H. Royce - Buyer} /Les. is getting quotations. The price actually is proportional to the size of the piece that has to go into the furnace, not to the size of the joint that has to be made.
