Sidgreaves - MD} HS. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} THE REAR END OF CAR J.3. A.5770 A.5780 You will have already received from us the full-sized schemes of the petrol tank, rear apron and luggage grid W.Sch.3376-7. We are now sending you W.Sch.3382, a scale layout of the back of the car. This illustrates the neat finish of the body with the rear wing and apron containing the luggage grid, and also shows how we are proposing to deal with the rear cushion and the wheel arch. The rear axle is shown bumped about an axis at the centre of a line joining the rear spring eyes. The wheel arch clearances are given, in fact much information is included which will enable you to begin to produce an elementary Chassis Print. The exhaust swanneck pipe is shown in plan, so this in conjunction with W.Sch. 3376-8. will enable you to instruct that pipe, particulars of the support of the rest of the P.2. short chassis exhaust silencer will follow shortly. It will be noticed that the maximum room available in the rear compartment of a madison body is one inch greater in this car than on the 26H.P. This will be of great help on our six seater cars. There is less "turn-under" of the rear panel. We have shewn the frame heights and clearances for both 18 ins. & 19 ins. rims, and if the former are satisfactory, we propose to try them shortly on the 26H.P. as most likely shall wish to use them on J.3.
