Lightened Upper Triangle Levers - Wraith II Wheel Movement - Phantom III Independent Front Wheel Suspension.

The upper triangle levers for the Wraith II wheel movement on the front suspension of the Phantom III shown on N.Sch.4757 were unduly heavy as it was intended that they should be hand forgings in order that the experiment might be carried out with the minimum of delay, because its results controlled the design of Wraith II. Unfortunately hand forgings were not used, and Wraith II is on the road almost in synchronism with the Phantom III experiments.

We understand that already two sets of dies for the levers as shown on N.Sch.4757 have been sunk, and we notice also that the levers as detailed on G.84591/2/3/4 in the plan view are not in accordance with the N.Sch., and in the flesh look very unmechanical.

As therefore we have to have new levers we wish to lighten the design, and on N.Sch.5033 herewith we show a scheme of lightened lever.

The rebound stops as drawn resemble very closely that on N.Sch.4757, but the one finally used will depend upon experiments which are now in hand concerning the stopping of the top triangle levers when the car is jacked to prevent the brakes coming on.
