| C.L.L./M.W. 24.10.30 -2- they are bound to think it peculiar that we are afraid to send them along the chassis. I have now had built an experimental exhaust box for the above, and it is in every way a great success. I discussed this with Mr. Olley when he was here and he has been working on the same lines to overcome over-cooling. He has a 40/50 H.P. which has been giving trouble. If we could have "V" front radiators, we should have little bother with this, but as our standard chassis is a flat one, we must do something. The people who suffer most are the Doctors. There are two ways of doing this. One is to put the thermostat on the body and the other is to put shutters on, both of which are expensive. The people who use our cars most are Doctors, and on no occasion do they get their cars really hot yet we persist in cooling them for Brooklands. The other point is the fitting of the exhaust tail pipe along the chassis. I see no reason why this should not be done now that we have silenced the exhaust system. This same chassis could be used for the fitting of the exhaust tail pipe along the chassis in order to prove that this could go up its tail in the same way. Will you please let me know with which firm you are in touch with regard to this matter. If Mr. Hives will agree it means a new exhaust box for all 1931 cars. I am not worried about the cost of this so much as the trouble. Ivens | ||
