The alterations shown on the above scheme# have been made to enable the bores in the gear box, in which the ball and roller bearings for the 1st and 3rd, and 2nd motion shafts fit, to be diamond bored simultaneously. The following modifications have been made to facilitate the diamond boreing :- (Struck through) (1). The bore for the centre bearing of the 3rd motion shaft has been increased from 2.750 to 2.875 diameter. This alteration will necessitate the use of a bearing of non-standard dimensions. (2). The bore for the rear bearing of the 2nd motion shaft has been increased from 2.500 to 2.8125 diameter. It is intended that the bearing CW.789, at present used on the rear of the 3rd motion shaft, should also be used on the rear of the 2nd motion shaft; it will therefore be necessary to fit a bush on the 2nd motion shaft to permit of the use of the bearing CW.789. The bore in the gear box for the reverse shaft rear bearing bush has been decreased from 1.250 to 1.125 diameter to facilitate the machining in line of the front and rear bores for the reverse shaft bearings.
