| HS. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} FROM DA. {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} ORIGINAL SECRET. DA {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} 2/M22.6.28. "SS {S. Smith} " FRONT AXLE. X7420 X401 Y457. With reference to HS {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /RM {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 1/LG18628., R. {Sir Henry Royce} thinks than an objection to putting the wheel further from the plane of the pivot would be the increased moment of any unbalanced force on the wheel. He would like you to test whether the effect of an identical unbalanced force is objectionably increased with the lengthened stub axles, as compared with present standard pivots.
