| To RHC. {R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} from Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 10/KT.17.7.33. X1097 IMPROVED FLOW THROUGH BENTLEY VALVES. We hand you herewith Lec.3571. This shows an improved inlet valve port designed by E. {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} with a view to increasing the volumetric efficiency of the Bentley engine. We have now a blower rig which enables us to determine the relative efficiency of a valve port without running it on an engine. We should like to know, therefore, whether you could arrange with Mr. Walker to make a wooden model of this inlet port for tests on the rig. All that we require is the valve guide, and inlet valve seat opening out into a chamber the same shape as the cylinder head shown. v Ports.
