25 HP. SYNCHROMESH REVERSE GEAR.

We have now completed a successful test of the Reverse gear to M.Sch.3374, but with both sets of oil holes 38° from the horizontal. After 15 minutes full torque the gear had shown no tendency to come out or seize. A further run in 1st. gear, which causes the reverse shaft to rotate in a different position on the stationary shaft, also was successful. We can therefore standardise this gear. We shall fit it to 18.G.IV. when it returns to France.
