BRAKES.

We understand from Brazier that you like your brakes with the lubricated servo even without reduced front braking.

(1)
We want you to try fitting longer levers G.76646 on the front brake equalising shaft. You will probably have to alter the undershield however, because, we cannot risk having front brake squeaks and even with these longer levers (2.18" instead of 1.750") we shall have more front braking than on the standard Phantom.

Having tried these levers on the car as you are at present running it, and got an impression of the difference they make to the system, we want you to re-line the servo and fit the brake shoes we are sending out to you, because the linings you are at present running have been condemned on both servo and brakes.

(2)
We want you to run the car about for a little while with the cams and leverage as before you altered the lining. The servo lining should not be lubricated for this test. Having got a good impression of the brakes like this, revert to the 45° cams and the short lever G.76811 (1.375") on the rear brake counter shaft. This lever we have sent out with Brazier.
