It has been thought that there is an advantage in having some flexibility in the linkage of the front suspension, and reports from Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} in U.S.A. have been to this effect. On N.Sch.5110 herewith we show an experimental scheme for fitting Cadillac type rear spring eye rubbers to the lower yoke piece bearing of Wraith III, in order that tests may be made to discover the merits of rubber in the suspension. The design has been made so that the existing triangle lever forging and the yoke piece forging may be used. The housing for the rubber in the yoke piece can be machined out of an existing Wraith III yoke piece. The grade of rubber and the durometer required will have to be finally settled by experiment, but we suggest that we should start off with the same rubber, both grade and durometer as used on the Cadillac front eye to the rear spring. The rubbers are compressed into the yoke piece by means of the central bearing tube. If it is desired to lock the two parts of the central tube this can be done by driving the metal over into a slot in the large washer. Ev. {Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Att:N.Sch.5110. | ||
