PHANTOM 111 - CAM FORM AND VALVE LIFT CURVE FOR FLAT TAPPETS.

Please receive herewith :-

E.CD.776 Valve Lift Curve for Flat Tappets - Phantom 111.

E.CD.777 Inlet and Exhaust Cam Forms for Flat tappets. Phan.111.

These diagrams have been made from the formulae supplied to us by BY {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} /B, to suit the design of flat tappets E.CD.635. The general characteristics of the cam are same as at present used on the Phantom 111 to LeC.5401, only applied to a flat follower and with the valve lift reduced to .350" using the standard rocker ratio.

It should be noticed that there is a period of dwell of approximately 1 1/2 degrees on each side of the centre line of maximum lift of cam.

The scrub distance across face of tappet is .902" on a tappet diameter of 1.000", being equal each side of tappet axis, as the opening and closing sides of cam are alike.

Will you please detail and instruct experimentally for the next 15,000 miles Phantom 111 test car.
