| 612 [REDACTED] from HPS. {Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} c. to Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} [REDACTED] SECRET. WRAITH III SLIPPER FLYWHEEL Referring to LeC.5492, screwed caps are provided in the front flywheel as a means of replacing springs without stripping the assembly. This is an advantage from an experimental point of view, where frequent changing of springs may be necessary in order to arrive at the correct slipping load, but in normal service the necessity to change springs would not often arise, and the fact of having to separate the flywheels is not really a serious consideration, seeing that the radiator and wheelcase, etc., must in any case be removed in order to obtain access to the spring drive. In the ordinary way, therefore, blind holes in the flywheel face would serve equally well, and we shall be glad if you will kindly give this point your consideration. LeC 5492.
