(1) New P.III axle shafts N. Sch. 4982.

(2) More flexible steel P.III clutch coupling N. Sch.4908, using 3 plates only.

Before we standardise either of the above schemes, we require to carry out rig tests on them. Will W. Bell please arrange accordingly.

The axle test should consist of torque reversals on a half shaft. A shaft which has not been machined at the gear end can, of course, be used. The coupling test should be for durability under out of alignment conditions.

In both cases figures comparative to those for present standard parts should be obtained.
