| Methods of calculation. By time Let v = final velocity. Let f = acceleration. " u = initial velocity. " t = time. " s = space passed over. Now initial velocity + accn. X time = final velocity } (1) i.e. U + ft = v Also space passed over = average speed X time } (ii) i.e. S = (v + u)/2 X t Substitute (1) in (ii) S = (U + ft + U)t / 2 = (2ut + ft^2) / 2 .. S = ut + 1/2 ft^2 .. Average acceleration = (2S - 2ut) / t^2 by time By speedometer. Average acceleration = Change of velocity(in ft/s) / time(in secs) = accn ft/s^2 Let initial speed be N m.p.h. " final " " M m.p.h. Time = t secs. Then acceleration = ((M - N) 14.66) / t by speedometer. | ||
