| X.1812l. Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 6/LG. Messrs. Dowden & Co., 67, Jermyn Street, St. {Capt. P. R. Strong} James's, London S.W.1. 6th. Jan. 1923. X.1807 X.1812. Dear Sirs, Some time ago we received from you a Petrol Level Indicator and 1 dozen Block sparking plugs. We have tested the plugs on an engine (Rolls-Royce) and find that with continuous running full power, they cause pre-ignitions. We could not recommend these plugs as being suitable for R-R Cars. As regards the petrol level indicator. This scheme would not be suitable for our cars. We have now standardised a level indicator on both the 40/50 HP. and 20 HP. cars and the arrangement you have submitted does not offer any advantages. We are returning the articles and wish to thank you for giving us the opportunity of testing and examining same. Yours faithfully, | ||
