With the high engine mounting and the rear mounting under the gearbox, the question of drain plugs on the gear box absorbing ground clearance does not arise, the rear engine mounting being the lowest point. As it is desired to fit an undersheet under the gear box as far back as the mounting cross member it would be more convenient for operating the forward drain plug if it were vertical instead of horizontal. There would also be less risk of filling the mounting cross member with oil, if the rear plug were also vertical. We therefore propose that both plugs should be placed vertically under the gearbox and that this should be incorporated in the new pattern which we understand is about to be ordered.
