| X7941 TO HS. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} From GWH. {George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} Hotel de France, Chateauroux(French test region), France, 11.2.33. Re 19 EX. We tried the car after getting the dampers with corrected poundage from speeds of 10 to 50 mph. The car rides dead with the the progressive minimum position. Above this speed the maximum position has to be used to stop the car pitching, but the riding in the rear is most unpleasant. The trouble is due to the high rating spring and until we get these changed I do not believe we shall get much value out of the progressive dampers. For those who want speed only the position is satisfactory for road holding qualities and stability of steering. We tried the car with 380 lbs in the rear. This steadied it somewhat and lessened the harshness in riding, but up to 60 mph. the riding qualities are still poor. The results of our tests so far prove that we reauire the minimum loading up to 50 mph. and maximum loading onwards. GWH. {George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} | ||
